Dear Doctor,I am 34 years old male .I have been married since last 4 years.I was diagnosed with "Azoospermia" after one year of marriage.Biopsy showed Sertolli cell only Syndrome.I had gone to many hospitals and had Homeopathy,Ayurvedic and also some harmone enhancing medicines but all in vain.In one of the hospital the doctor suggested for IVF (only 20% chances) or Donor Sperm but we were against Donor Sperm and IVF with only 20 % chances we were doubtful. Is there any way of having a kid
If your test result is correct you have azoospermia a condition with complete absence of sperm in the semen. It can be due to various reasons. One of the common causes is an obstructive azoospermia which means an obstruction in the reproductive tract or passage of sperms. Matured sperms are collected in the epididymis and carried through the vas deference to the ejaculatory duct. Any obstruction in this path can cause azoospermia. In a few men vas deference is absent by birth. This is another cause of obstructive azoospermia. Absence of spermatogenesis (Spermatogenesis is the process that creates sperm from initially undifferentiated germ cells) or maturation arrest is another cause. Maturation arrest is the cessation of the development of spermatogonia to sperm cell.
It is better to test your semen in another laboratory with 3-5 days abstinence. If the result is the same you have to undergo complete evaluation to find out the cause. Evaluation includes physical examination, semen analysis and sonological evaluation. Only after detecting the actual cause, an opinion about treatment can be given. We have all the facilities to evaluate such conditions
